Practical tips to look after your wellbeing working in remote construction areas

Being here in NEOM on the grounds as a mental health clinician providing mental health and wellbeing consultancy and support, visiting constructions sites, dessert offices, talking to the staff and workers on the grounds for many days, which a story I will share with you later on; has given me insight into the resiliency of the diadectid people who are building this dream city of the future. However, working in such harsh conditions presents unique challenges, including isolation and demanding conditions. So I decided to write a simple short practical list of of tip for everyone who works in such conditions, to safeguard your emotional well-being in such environments, here it goes!
1. Establish Routine and Boundaries: Create a structured daily routine with set working hours and time for relaxation. Clearly communicate boundaries between work and personal life to prevent burnout.
2. Stay Connected: Use technology to maintain social connections with friends, family, and colleagues. Regular communication can alleviate feelings of loneliness and provide support. Establish a network of friends in your camp or accommodation where you can eat meals together of take weekend trips together.
3. Prioritize Self-Care: Dedicate time to activities like exercise, meditation, and hobbies to promote relaxation and rejuvenation. Ensure you get enough rest and nutrition to support well-being.
4. Seek Support: Don't hesitate to reach out for help when needed. Whether it's discussing concerns with colleagues or accessing professional counseling services, seeking support is essential. Many companies provide EAP Programs, reach out to HR and ask about them.

5. Focus on Positivity and Adaptability: Cultivate a positive mindset and embrace change as opportunities for growth. Approach challenges with resilience and optimism, knowing they can lead to personal and professional development.
6. Limit Working Hours: Set clear limits on the number of hours you dedicate to work each day or week. Prioritize tasks effectively to maximize productivity within these limits and allow yourself time to rest and recharge outside of work

By implementing these strategies, you can better manage the emotional demands of working in remote construction areas and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
